Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport
Olivia Grange has said that Jamaica’s sports women continue show brilliance with the performance of Alia Atkinson in swimming and Jhaniele Fowler and Shamera Sterling in Netball.
In a release Minister Grange said it is fantastic that Alia in breathtaking performances copped three gold medals at the FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships in China.
She added that there seems to be no limit to what Alia can achieve in the pool. And Minister Grange said Jhaniele created history by becoming the first Jamaican netballer to be rated number two in the world by the netballer poll organisation, Netball Scoop, and with Shamera voted number seven, the Sunshine Girls have two players in the top Ten in World netball.
“This is awesome for our women’s sports and deserves all our attention and support,” Minister Grange concluded.
