Residents of Derrymore Road in St Andrew are calling on the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) to fix a number of non functioning street light in their community, which has led to an increase in robberies in the area.
According to the residents who spoke to Roots News, they have made several reports to the KSAMC and JPS and their plight seems to be falling on deaf ears.
Residents say they been languishing with the problem for two years, and recently there have been an increase in the number of robberies. The last robbery reportedly took place on Monday March 18 at about 10pm.
According to residents, robber would hide in the dark behind a container that is left along the road way at nights and attack unsuspecting persons.
The residents are making an appeal to the authorities to remedy the situation before something worst happens.
