In an update on the dengue outbreak, Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said as at January 13, 2020, there were 9,356 suspected, presumed or confirmed cases of dengue, adding that more females continue to be affected by the virus, compared to males.
Dr Tufton said the largest number of suspected, presumed or confirmed dengue cases in 2019 was from Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine and St. Ann.
The data in 2018 were the same with the addition of Westmoreland
In the fight against mosquito breeding, Dr Tufton disclosed that the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) will be providing 90 million dollars for additional vector control workers
The disclosure was made during a post cabinet press briefing this morning.
