A total of 73 Million Dollars will be spent to renovate and recommission a number of elevators at public hospitals.
In a statement online, Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton gave an update on the cost of elevator repairs and installations at some hospitals.
He said the Spanish Town Hospital commissioned an elevator yesterday at a cost of $10.1 Million Dollars. He added that the Kingston Public Hospital commissioned a new elevator at a cost of $15.4 Million Dollars, the Princess Margret Hospital $16.2 Million and the National Chest Hospital $19.2 Million Dollars.
Meanwhile in January 2019, the Victoria Jubilee Hospital is set to receive a new elevator at a cost of $16.2 Million Dollars.
Dr Tufton added that the repairs are part of efforts to improve service delivery in public health facilities.
