With the call for a bilateral approach to tackle the crime situation on the Island, Prime Minister, Andrew Holness and the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Peter Phillips had a private meeting on Wednesday at Vale Royal to arrange for a meeting with stakeholders.
In a joint release the OPM said both Leaders held full, frank and confidential discussions on security and crime management in Jamaica.
The release said they agreed that a meeting of teams from the Government and Opposition will take place next Monday, January 7, 2019.
They also agreed that, at the Monday meeting a date will be determined for a meeting with other stakeholders.
This meeting followed the Opposition’s stance that they needed more time to prepare for a meeting requested by the Prime Minister to discuss security issues affecting the country.
